Mendocino’s main beach is easy to get to, walkable, beautiful, and great for dogs–just keep them leashed, pleased!

If your best friend needs to run free, Noyo Beach is your best bet. Situated in Fort Bragg’s Noyo Harbor, it’s perhaps less Instagrammable than some of the area’s more well-known beaches–but your dog doesn’t care.

Curving around the village of Mendocino, with stunning views of the Pacific, these grassy bluffs are perfect for a peaceful walk with your dog. Just mind the edge!

Owned by the Mendocino Land Trust and located 10 miles north of Fort Bragg, this is one of the region’s most stunning white-sand beaches, and also allows for off-leash dogs. Just please take care not to let them enter or cross Ten Mile River, which is protected.
Towns don’t come much smaller than Elk, with a population of under 300, but you can bet that every one of those souls is grateful for this stunning, dog-friendly beach, with its ubiquitous driftwood forts and evocative rocky shore.
